The objective of this project was to update the existing lobby and create a warmer, more inviting space. Upgrades included new flooring and wall finishes, ceiling and lighting, furniture and artwork.
Watkins Architect had the pleasure of renovating nursing units on E2 and E3 of the Reading Hospital. The scope of work included the replacement of lighting, wall and floor finishes in the corridors, conversion of shared shower rooms to private en-suite showers, replacement of all toilets, the addition of new hand wash sinks and the conversion of three existing storage spaces into dictation workspaces for the nurses.
Limited refresh of an existing Health Center including accent paint and murals to create a playful space for children.
Nestled amongst the trees of a 23-acre Kutztown site, this 3,200 sq. ft. custom residence features natural stone construction and standing seam metal roofing. Designed to maximize views of the breathtaking surroundings, the spaces are accentuated by strategically placed windows, including 12' tall picture windows in the great room and skylights in both the kitchen and master suite. Views of the existing logging trail are framed by the windows of the sitting, dining and great rooms. The expansive great room also boasts timber construction, a cathedral ceiling and a custom-built, solid-wood spiral staircase. Other spaces on the first floor include: a gourmet kitchen with pantry, home theater, master suite, plant room, laundry and three-car garage. The second floor features his and her offices, an additional bedroom and a balcony overlooking the great room. The finished basement consists of a den, work room, sitting room and craft room, as well as a supplemental kitchen for entertainment purposes. Exterior living spaces further reinforce the coexistence of nature and the built environment.

The concept for this retail location was to design a space with the old-world charm and Spanish influences that are present throughout “Americaís oldest city”. Finishes include exposed brick and stained concrete floors. The feature graphic, tile cashwrap and custom tee-shirt fixture act as focal points. The Harley-Davidson branded merchandise is highlighted with accent lighting throughout the store.
This Harley-Davidson retail location pays homage to the townís claim to fame: the Jack Daniels Distillery. The interior fit-out was designed to evoke the ubiquitous whiskey barrel with rich wood finishes, gentle curves and black metal accents. Custom millwork was designed to showcase the storeís most popular products: tee shirts, gifts and collectables. The custom motorcycle platform with sepia graphic and spot lighting creates a focal point in the store and an opportunity to display featured merchandise.
Watkins provided the interior design retrofit by coordinating the optometric equipment plans with the desired building plans and codes.
