This unique design involved demolishing part of the existing social hall for the new engine room addition and converting the existing engine room into a new banquet hall for the social club. The new design gives the department four engine room bays with high ceilings to tilt cabs for maintenance. The first floor also has an equipment storage room, engineer workroom, report office and support spaces. The second floor has offices, an on-call lounge and a meeting/classroom.
Watkins Architect developed construction drawings for this new 18,000 sq. ft. fire station. The first floor also includes a full commercial kitchen, administrative offices, an 80-person meeting room/classroom, men's and women's toilet/shower rooms, file storage and gear/equipment storage. Another example of Watkins Architect's success in architectural services for existing buildings in the Lehigh Valley, Upper Milford Township recently relocated municipal offices to the former Kings Highway Elementary building. "This was a great opportunity to transform the 1950's vintage King's Highway School building to be a modern office and community space for the people of Upper Milford Township," said David Policelli, project manager for Ondra-Huyett Construction Services. "We had the opportunity to preserve and reuse this quality old building. We saved and reused many of the old wood doors and much of the millwork." Watkins Architect provided the planning and design services for the expansion and renovation. 12,300 sf of vacant space in Zionsville, PA was transformed into the Township offices, community center, and a historical center with State Representative and emergency services offices.
